Karen Kares

I wanted to create a way that I could help give back to a community that has given so much to my family. I decided to create Karen Kares as my way of giving back to charities that are near and dear to my heart and that support our local community. With every successful closing I have, I will be making a donation to one of the following charities on behalf on my clients.

I learned about this amazing organization when my oldest daughter was diagnosed with leukemia at age 16. This organization provides support bags for teens all over the country battling cancer plus local fun events.

I learned about this organization when we were selected for a bedroom makeover for my daughter as she was battling cancer. Not only did they provide a beautiful space for my daughter to heal but they also do the siblings bedrooms!

I learned about this foundation when a client of mine lost his battle to brain cancer. His loving wife started this fantastic foundation to assist in the development of youth athletic programs in Northern Virginia, support student athletes at Robinson Secondary School, contribute to the athletic programs at Christopher Newport University, and to fund research and development of new treatments in the brain cancer field.

I learned of this wonderful place from a dear friend whose life was saved by being able to go here. Anchor House offers a myriad of comprehensive, life-saving programs & services to more than 1,000 youth & their families each year. Their mission is to provide a safe haven where abused, runaway, homeless & at-risk youth & their families are empowered to succeed & thrive.

Helping Hands Cancer Outreach is a local organization dedicated to helping patients, who are fighting cancer, financially. The mission of the organization is to help relieve financial burdens to help patients relax during treatment, and to help those who have lost a loved one to cancer through help with funeral expenses.

I am a pet lover. I have a sweet beagle and two loving cats. A donation to the SPCA helps to offset the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, medications, vaccinations, veterinary care, behavior evaluation and modification, boarding, nutrition, and kennel enrichment.
